Sold!

Finally, after weeks of delays on the buyer's part, and putting it back on the market to find he wanted to try again, we sold this house. Closed, cleaned, moved and turned over keys.

I hope to NEVER deal with those people again. The buyer's agent lied to the buyer, and didn't inform him of all of our frustrations and counters. He didn't even give him our termination of contract form!

Very unscrupulous.

I will be watching the parties involved to make sure we do NOT come across them when we start searching for our new house.

Master Bedroom

The two windows to the right look out of the south of the house, and onto 99th and the backyard. The larger window with the half-moon window above looks out over the front yard, facing east.

There's plenty of room in here for a king size bed (see pic) and lots of furniture. The doorway that you can barely see to the left of the pic opens to the bathroom.

About where the photographer is standing is not only the entrance to the bedroom, but also the nice-size walk-in closet, with multiple levels of shelves and rods.

The ceiling fan and light works well, and provides so much light that we don't actually have another light in this room.

Bathroom in Master Suite

Here's the bathroom in the master suite, upstairs floor.

In the first picture, the shower is pretty large, and has some nice towel bars in and outside the shower door. It has a massage shower head with various settings. The window looks out of the front of the house, to the east. There is a complete sink, counter, cabinet and huge mirror to the right.

This second picture shows the second sink area. Note the large counter area and super-large mirror.

There are dimmer lights above both mirrors.

The door leads to the separate toilet room that has it's own fan and light switch.

This last picture was taken by a real photographer! Better picture than mine! Still, you can't see the half-moon window above the visible window. See how much bright light in the bathroom? The carpet in the bathroom area is a darker gray than the rest of the house, and the counters are sea-mist.

Bedroom 2

This is the second bedroom to the right as you come up the stairs.

The window also overlooks part of the backyard, but has some shade from a large tree in the backyard. This room's closet is to the left.

Don't worry about the words and pictures that were painted on the wall for our son. We can paint right over them as necessary!

Bedroom 1

This is the first bedroom when you come up the stairs to the bedroom floor. The window looks out over part of the backyard. There's a closet against the wall to the right.

We have stickers on the wall (fairies, etc.) but they peel right off!

Bathroom 1

Here's a picture of the main bathroom on the top floor. It has a full tub/shower, and the counter space is slightly larger than average.

You can see the shower curtain in the mirror. Plenty of space under the sink.

Basement Laundry and Office/Bedroom

The basement is partially finished, and is accessed from the family room, as shown in this first picture. The door on the left leads to the basement. The door on the right leads to the garage.

This second picture is the view from the stairs, coming down into the laundry/storage area. There is roughed-in plumbing to the back on the left. There is also a permanent ironing board on the back wall. The washer and dryer hookups are on the right.

As you can see, there is plenty of storage space here in the laundry area.

This third picture shows the dryer, and the furance and hot water heater, by the stairs. There is also a water softener that was here when we got here, but we never hooked it up and don't know anything about it. The furnace hasn't been serviced but we never had any problem with it. The hot water heater was replaced new in February 2008.

This fourth picture shows how we're using this finished room. It's big enough to be a bedroom, but can't be listed as such because it's below ground level, and because there's no bathroom on this level. There is a window behind those plum-colored curtains that is actually a window-well. The carpet here is green. We placed the futon in here because to use as a guest bedroom for out-of-town guests, or when there's a tornado warning at night.

This fifth picture shows the closet in this finished basement room. It has lots of storage space, a closet-length rod and shelf above, and a little door that leads to the dirt crawl space. There is a LOT of storage space in that crawl space.

Thermostats

This house has a really cool thermostat system. This first picture is of the control that is in the stairway up to the bedroom floor. It shows the time and the temp it's set at and what the temp actually is. It is also programmable, so that, say, in Winter, if you need the heat to be a little more when you get up in the morning, you can set it for 30 minutes before your alarm goes off, and it will start getting the house ready for you to get up.

This second thermostat control is actually for a ceiling fan. There are two of these: one for the living room ceiling fan, and another in the master bedroom. The panels are held on to the wall by velcro, handy when you want the control right next to you; it just detaches and reattaches! The right side of the panel is for the ceiling fan; you can set these to go clockwise or counter-clockwise. The left side of the panel is for the light that's on the ceiling fan: set it for off, dim and all the way up to full blast.

Furnace is a little old but works well. There is no central air.

Main Floor Layout

This picture shows the view from the stairs that go from the main floor up to the bedroom/bathroom floor. Note that the wall that separates the living room (right) and the kitchen (left) is what we call a "half wall". There is plenty of room there for your kitchen appliances that you don't use very often.

Not shown is the ceiling fan above and slightly to the right of the wall.

Living Room

The living room is the first part of the house you enter when you come through the front door. The first picture shows the front door, the hard wood section of the foyer, and the bay windows. That window gets the morning sunshine and really warms the house in the Winter. It also has a great view of the cul-de-sac.

This second picture is a view from the front door, looking into the house. To the right is the living room, and on past is the dining area and to the right of the dining area, the kitchen.

Just as a side note, the carpet is light gray throughout most of the house. The kitchen floor is wood, and there is a finished room in the basement that has green carpet.

This third picture shows the living room. There are two identical windows that face the north side of the front yard, and look out on the cherry tree in this yard. It also shows part of the cul-de-sac. The space between the windows is large enough for an entertainment center.

This next picture is taken from the bay window section of the living room, to show the view of the stairs up to the bedroom/bathroom floor, to the dining area, and the stairs down to the family room.

This last picture was taken by a real photographer. Note the cathedral ceilings, and the half-wall with the kitchen on the other side. This room feels as light and airy as it looks.

Family Room

Here's a picture of the family room, taken from the stairs just to the left of the dining area. The sliding glass doors are to the far right, and there's another window further on. Both look out to the backyard.

The fireplace is gas, and the key is located on top of the mantle. The lock is to the right of the fireplace, in the floor. Sorry ... we never attempted to use it so we don't know much about it.

Also to the right of the fireplace is the hookup for the Direct TV satellite dish that located on the outside of that wall.

As you can tell, there's a lot of room in this family room - we have our exercycle, couch, and TV set up there. It stays pretty comfortable in the Summer, and nice and warm in the Winter.

To the left, out of range of the pictures is one door that leads 2 steps down to the garage, and another door that leads down to the basement.

Dining Area

This dining area is right by the kitchen (out of picture range to the right). The windows look out over the backyard.

To the left, down those stairs, is the family room. Note the sliding glass doors (black curtains and green toppers). The see-through railings allow you to keep an eye-out for what's going on down in the family room.

The dining area is big enough for a 6-seater dining table and chairs.

Kitchen

This is a view of the kitchen, from the dining area. The dishwasher and stove were purchased in February 2008 when we moved in to this house, and we'll be leaving them behind. The refrigerator was purchased at the same time, but we plan to take that with us (negotiable).

There is a filtering system for the water, but we never used that so we don't know if it works. We added our own (the black knob on the faucet) but are taking that with us. The disposal-system works well.

The sink over the window and to the left look over the backyard. Lovely view.

Counter is white, and there's even more, obscured from view in this bottom pic by the refrigerator.

There is plenty of cabinet space, including a lazy-susan cabinet in the corner. Note the wood cabinets match the wood floor and pantry door!

The pantry has plenty of room in it. It also contains the security system for the house (which we never hooked up but assume it is in working order).

As you can see, there's plenty of room for a telephone table there to the bottom right of this second picture.

Front of House

Front view of house at 9927 Garfield Ct in Thornton, Colorado.

House is painted eggshell. Trim is aqua-blue/green, including front door.

Nice porch for comfy chairs to enjoy the evening breeze or to watch Fourth-of-July fireworks.

Notice the two-car garage and driveway, in addition to the single-car gravel/rock driveway to the left. New rock added in May 2009. New garage door as of May 2009.

The master bedroom suite is above the garage.... the bedroom is the left window, and the bathroom is the smaller window in the right.

Details about Thornton house for sale

This house is a tri-level. The top level has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The main floor has the living room, dining area and kitchen. Down one level to the family room and 2-car garage, and you can exit the family room through sliding glass doors to the enclosed backyard. Go down one more level to the basement where there's a large laundry room with roughed-in plumbing for another bathroom, an additional bedroom/den/office (with closet) and a crawl space.

The house is on the corner of a small cul-de-sac where there are only 6 houses (including this one). There are children to play with and friendly neighbors.

We grow a lot of food here on this corner lot.... various fruits and vegetables. South side of house gets a lot of sun, especially in the Summer. By the front porch are three tiers of planting area. The middle tier has crocuses and tulips and snapdragons that pop up in the Spring.

Inside the house: there's a new water heater, a furnace that was recently inspected, cathedral ceilings, new kitchen appliances, and lots of space. The family room has a gas-fireplace surrounded by brick. No central air.

Why are we selling? Husband's office has been moved to south Denver, and the commute is just too far.

This picture is taken of the south-side of the house, and shows the fence. The two windows upper-right of the house are in the master suite.
